The level of competition in the world is at a higher level than ever before. Everywhere you go, you will find people competing with others, or themselves. That is when you feel that you are not worthy or capable enough to be mentioned in the same sentence as them. It breaks you from within and you consider yourself useless in everything else.

Having self-esteem in a competitive world is rare but you have to discover it and there are 4 ways for you to do that.

  1. None other than yourself will question your existence or if you are good enough for anything. And following that will be if you matter or not. Thus, when you begin to feel unimportant or irrelevant, try to be vocal about it. Try to talk to someone and tell them how you feel and you will learn that you are not the only one with that feeling. When you see others share that thought, you begin to feel a little better.
  2. Being despondent is also related to people treating us as if we are that way. You may think that they do it because you deserve it and that is utterly false. It is not your fault that they treated you that way. In fact, it was theirs because they were oblivious to notice your true value. Thus, it is safe to say that there was something wrong with them, not you.
  3. A common misjudgment is that in order to be considered important, you have to do something monumental. That thought is not all true because the people that inspire you are mostly the ones who you meet daily. Having said that, the people that care and listen to you, are the ones that truly make an impact in your life and that is the biggest fact.

The last tip is related to the one above. When you begin to do small acts of kindness, you indirectly impact someone else’s life without even knowing it. There are more than a couple of occasions where you may have helped someone and that act meant the world. But to you, it was something you do regularly. So, always remember, when you do any good to others, you may have helped them out of a great deal of misery.
